Women Who Weld

Shipping Hip is proud to donate a portion of profits to Women Who Weld, a non profit organization that teaches women how to weld and find employment in the welding industry.

Women Who Weld offers an annual, subsidized, 6-week intensive training program in which unemployed and underemployed women learn how to MIG weld and operate various metalworking tools and machines. Participants receive training for the AWS Certified Welder test, one-on-one resume and interview preparation, financial literacy and home buying workshops, and the opportunity to meet with hiring employers and tour off-site production facilities. Graduates of the 6-week training program will be prepared for full-time jobs or apprenticeships in the welding industry.

Women Who Weld also offers year-round, paid, week-long intensive training classes for women who are interested in learning how to MIG, TIG, and/or Stick weld, as well as single-day, introductory welding workshops for women. Proceeds from the paid classes and workshops go toward funding the subsidized, 6-week intensive training program. Graduates of the week-long training classes will be prepared for full-time jobs or apprenticeships in the welding industry.
